ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Creating a beyond visual experience!
"I strive to infuse my artworks with thoughtfully energetic and emotionally stimulating content, rewarding the viewer with a chromatically rich, dimensionally expanding experience."
METHODOLOGY
Many of my paintings are uniquely created with a layered use of many different fine art media, combining Oil Pastel over Watercolor, and other media including Prismacolors, Gouache, Metallic Inks and Acrylics on fine art papers and canvas.
I often add spontaneous random textural line work over these layered color fields for a more dimensional tactile surface, and work with viscosity variant combinations of oils and watercolors, creating random “push-pull” effects to heighten and enhance surface qualities, adding depth beyond the two dimensional picture plane.
The materials I use in this manner are most unforgiving of any reworking, requiring " pre-visualization "..... seeing through my mind's eye, to envision the finished piece. This is the most important part of my total creative process.
This approach gives me the confidence to concentrate on other important aesthetic qualities while always seeking a consistently fluid, rhythmic, and harmonious balance about the entire piece.
